COVID-19 Protection in Residential Aged Care
Smarter Skills offers training in COVID-19 Infection Control for residential aged care, daycare respite and clinics. This training includes an overview of the Coronavirus, use of PPE and the resulting health problems experienced by those affected by the disease.
Our trainer, Lesley Jones, is a registered nurse and midwife with current Aged Care experience. She has managed Aged Care facilities and is involved in staff training at numerous facilities in Sydney and surrounding areas.
Information presented in the training is based on State approved guidelines.

- Correct hand washing procedure
- PPE procedures when dealing with suspected COVID-19 cases
- Types of masks
- Practical ways to protect yourself
- Clinical waste management
- Chemical safety
Training includes documented competencies in hand washing, donning and doffing PPE correctly and chemical safety for environmental cleaning.
Target Audience
This training is suited to all Aged Care staff including clinical, life-style and house keeping. The course can be tailored to suit contract cleaners.
Course Duration
The course takes between 2 and 3 hours depending on the number of participants as each student has to be individually assessed.
Cost
The course costs between $360 and $540 plus the cost of the face masks supplied to all students.
