Fire Training

Smarter Skills offers Fire Training in Sydney for health care facilities such as residential aged care, daycare respite and clinics. This training includes fire safety, use of fire equipment, evacuation and rescue. All our Fire Training meets the guidelines in the NSW Health Policy Directive “Fire safety in health care facilities“.

Our fire trainer, Lesley Jones, is a qualified fire safety manager, a current member of the Institute of Health Care Fire Safety (NSW). Lesley is also a registered nurse and midwife with current Aged Care experience. She has managed Aged Care facilities and is involved in staff training at numerous facilities in Sydney and surrounding areas.

Fire Training for residential aged care is a mandatory annual requirement for all employees. Smarter Skills believes that the training needs to be clearly understood and our training has been designed to clearly explain the requirements of all staff including those with English as a second language. Training sessions can be tailored to suit customer needs and include practical evacuation and rescue scenarios. This builds the necessary staff confidence to enable them to stay calm and deal with emergency situations.

Flip Chart

A review of the emergency response flip chart is also included in our training so that staff are familiar with the actions necessary to manage a variety of dangerous situations. These include:

  • Code red – responding to fire (R.A.C.E.)
  • Code orange – staged evacuation
  • Code purple – responding to a bomb threat
  • Code yellow – responding to a missing resident (residential Aged Care)

Smarter Skills Fire Training Sydney always provide Session plans to management so that the training delivered can easily be audited when the need arises. The cost is dependent on the length of training provided, but our policy is to always be very competitive.
